The Rainbow That Forgot Its Colours
Once, high above the clouds where the sky touched the stars, lived a rainbow named Raye.
Raye was known for her brilliant coloursāreds as warm as hugs, oranges like sweet juice, yellows that made the sun giggle, and all the other colours that lit up the sky after a storm.
But one morning, when Raye peeked out after a gentle rain⦠she gasped.
Her colours were gone.
No red, no green, not even a splash of purple. Just a soft, silvery shimmer that barely sparkled at all.
āIāve lost my colours!ā Raye cried. āHow will the world smile after the rain without me?ā
The wind tried to cheer her.
āYouāre still beautiful,ā it whispered.
But Raye felt dull, invisible, and a little bit lost.
So she floated down from the clouds to find what sheād lost.
First, she met a red fox curled under a berry bush.
āI donāt have your colour,ā said the fox kindly, ābut I can share a story of bravery.ā
Next, Raye found an orange butterfly fluttering by.
āI donāt have your glow,ā it said, ābut Iāll share my joy.ā
A yellow sunflower offered her a hug.
Green grass danced beside her.
A bluebird sang a melody.
And a violet bloom whispered, āYou never really lost your colours. They live in the kindness you share.ā
With each act of love and warmth, a tiny bit of colour returned to Rayeās glow. She didnāt even notice at firstāuntil she looked into a lake and saw her full rainbow shine smiling back at her.
Raye laughed, not because she had her colours again, but because she finally understoodā¦
āMy colours come from the world around meāand from the love I carry inside.ā
She rose back into the sky, brighter than ever, painting the heavens with gratitude, joy, and every colour she had rediscovered.
So next time you see a rainbow after the rain, know that itās not just light and mistāitās filled with kindness, courage, and the magic of being you.
Sleep peacefully, little one. You shine in your own beautiful way.
