Niko and the Dreamcatcher Tree
Every night before bed, Niko would sit by his window and look out at the big, quiet forest beyond his backyard. The trees swayed gently like they were whispering secrets to the stars.
But one night, something caught Niko’s eye.
Far in the forest, a soft golden glow shimmered between the trees. Curious and wide-eyed, Niko tiptoed outside in his slippers and followed the light.
He wandered past sleepy flowers and yawning owls until he reached a very tall tree unlike any other. Its bark sparkled faintly, and from every branch hung hundreds of tiny dreamcatchers—each one softly spinning in the moonlight.
“Wow…” Niko whispered. “What is this place?”
A gentle breeze stirred the air, and the tree shivered—not with cold, but with magic.
Suddenly, one of the dreamcatchers drifted down, landing softly in Niko’s hands. It had silver feathers and a glowing thread in the centre.
A warm, gentle voice echoed from the tree:
“Welcome, Niko. This is the Dreamcatcher Tree. Each dreamcatcher holds a wish, a story, or a dream waiting to be shared.”
Niko blinked in wonder.
“Can I make a wish?” he asked softly.
The dreamcatcher in his hands twinkled like a sleepy star.
“I wish,” Niko said, “for everyone to have happy dreams tonight—especially those who are feeling sad or scared.”
With that, the dreamcatcher floated back up to the branches and spun faster and faster until its light spilled out into the sky like fireflies.
That night, children all around the world dreamed of adventures in candy lands, flying whales, dancing clouds, and glowing forests. And in every dream, Niko’s warm wish whispered peace and joy.
The Dreamcatcher Tree smiled from its roots to its tallest leaves.
Niko yawned, feeling sleepier than ever.
The tree bent low and gently set him back by his window, just in time for bed.
From that night on, whenever Niko felt unsure or needed a little magic, he would look out at the forest, and the Dreamcatcher Tree would twinkle back.
Sweet dreams, little one.
